Alzheimers Coachella Valley (ACV), a community-based nonprofit that provides free programs and services for individuals impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias, will hold its 8th Annual Open House on Wednesday, October 29, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature live music, light fare and tours of the facility.

The evening will also honor the work and dedication of Edwina Dirk, RN, BSN, as she receives the 4th Annual Chuck Olsen Caregiver Award. Dirk has been a volunteer with ACV since its inception in 2017. She has served on ACV’s Board, been a valued advisor and educator, and more importantly, created ACV’s monthly curriculum for Certified Nursing Aids (CNAs) and Home Health Aids (HHAs) licensed by the State of California. At the age of 78, Dirk returned to school to achieve her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Now 82, she still works full time to educate nursing students, visit patients across the Coachella Valley and beyond, and lead ACV’s monthly caregiver class.

ACV’s Open House will be held at their Palm Desert offices in the Berger Foundation Charitable Center, 75105 Merle Street, Suite 800. Complimentary valet will be provided. We hope to see you there!
