Last night I had the honor of speaking on a panel at Mystical Awakenings for Women’s Empowerment Week on El Paseo. Four stellar speakers offered stories and advice inspiring those in attendance to live life to the fullest by dreaming big and not letting fear hold you back.
Throughout the evening, words used to describe empowered women included confidence, intuition, grace, calm, and yes, femininity (a strength embraced by those empowered).
Practices shared to harness these characteristics were meditation, breathing, giving back (mentoring/speaking/blogging, etc.), stepping back before responding, and “don’t let them see you sweat.”
Here are the closing words of encouragement each gave for Living Fearlessly and Being Empowered:
Jeralyn Brossfield, MD: Even if you don’t have a plan, go ahead and take the first step. If you feel strongly about an idea, move forward and feel confident that the universe has your back. Doors will open and the people who are meant to support you will appear.
Lauren Del Sarto, Publisher: Follow your passion and live the life YOU want for yourself. Dream big and don’t let anything – especially your own insecurities – hold you back. And if you’re still trying to identify your true passion, get in touch with your inner child (your spirit) through meditation. When you feel those butterflies at the mere thought of doing something you love, your passion will come. (Try Deepak Chopra’s Desire & Destiny)
Lesley Carey, Entrepreneur/CEO: If you’ve made a choice, figure it out quickly and move forward. You only have one journey in life and that journey is what you make it. Have fun along the way and don’t take yourself too seriously; it will all work out just as it is supposed to.
Elaine Kavanagh, Financial Advisor: Dance every day, whether in your kitchen or in your car – anywhere. And be true to yourself; don’t change your authenticity for anyone else.
All agreed that working together we can do so much more than we can on our own, so I invite you to BE BOLD and please share your words of advice in the comments section below.
And thank you for being here!
